    New Features and Enhancements

    Home Working Tips

    There is a new category in Tips list that has been added called Home working tips. The purpose of this is to aid users that may have been required to work from home due to the pandemic. It has been turned off by default, but the user may opt for this if they choose to. This is available for both English and Dutch languages. (WPC-574)

    Bug Fixes

    Touch support causing issues with mouse use

    There were sporadic instances where updated duration and intervals for default policies are not applied for new users. This issue has been fixed and can no longer be replicated in this new build. (WPC-584)

    Settings being reset randomly

    When a user is first set-up with the application, the user has an option to choose what settings should apply to them. However, in erratic instances, users have reported that their settings have been altered to random presets. This bug has been addressed and is no longer reproducible in this build. (WPC-586)

    Application locking user due to timeout issues

    In rare instances, the application crashes due to timeouts when the machine the application is running on is processing very slowly. The application assumes that there has been an issue somewhere, thus, restarting the application. It was also causing user to be locked out from the system in some instances. The application has now been improved to ensure this no longer happens. (WPC-587)

    Incorrect information on detailed view for application statistics

    There have been reports where the detailed view for application statistic show incorrectly. Data for the first listed application is repeated for all other applications in the list. This has now been fixed. Data for various application are now showing in the detailed view. (WPC-585)

    Yes, one user can be used with multiple computers as long as you are logged in with the correct username/domain. With how your company is set-up, it relies on username/domain for authentication. If your multiple machines can prove your identity, then yes this is possible.

  3. Hi there,

    DND will be turned on if WPC does not recognize the user. This could happen due to several reasons but is mostly because

    • the user hasn't been registered with the server or
    • the license has expired
    • the connection cannot be established with the server

    Are you able to give more information with regards to the backend of your client? Are you single user or a WRM user? What WRM version do you have? Which you company are you under? Some companies have full control over their users.

    Your reply (above) feels disingenuous.  The hotkeys are not displayed, and the shortcuts that used to work DO NOT WORK any more.

    If this is a matter of user error (mine), please do educate me on how to use these "not visible hotkeys".

    What hot keys where you using before? The only one that we changed is around Do Not Disturb instead of Standby. On 5.5.7, If you right click on the system tray, hot keys as below:

    D -> Status Panel

    T -> WorkPace Break

    E -> Exercise 

    N + 3 -> Do Not Disturb for 30 minute (DND replaced Standby)

    V -> Risk Profile

    O -> Dashboard

     

    Windows DOES NOT show these underlines by default, however, I find that when you turn the below settings on - it does.

  5. Hi RHolt,

     

    Apologies for the delay. Our devs have confirmed that the hotkeys are still there but unfortunately, you will not be able to see them highlighted because they have been implemented differently. However, you will still be able to use them as you should with the old version. I understand that this may cause issues but we had to do this as the old implementation was causing more issues than this new one.

    There were sporadic instances where updated duration and intervals for default policies are not applied for new users. This issue has been fixed and can no longer be replicated in this new build. (WPC-509)

    Application contacting the server too frequently

    It has been reported that in some cases, the application keeps trying to contact the server too often, generating issues both on the client and the server side. In this new build, we ensured that the application does not contact the server too frequently unless the user does a manual sync. (WPC-547)

    New computer ID is being generated causing sync issues

    Occasionally, a new computer is generated for a machine when the application is opened. This could be due to a number of reasons. It can then cause problems around syncing data since this relies on the computer ID. This new release ensures that only one computer ID will sync data from a single machine – eradicating any potential syncing issues. (WPC-548)

    Mac OS Big Sur

    The application has been enhanced to ensure compatibility with the upcoming Mac OS Big Sur. This allow users who are wanting to upgrade to the latest OS to continue using the product without any issues.

    Bug Fixes

    Unable to resize console window after clicking on maximize button

    When the app has been converted to a menulet application, there was an issue where the user is able to maximize the window but unable to resize it back. Maximizing has been disabled for this not to occur.  (WP-1383)

    Switching IDE is not really an option for me and so far I haven't been able to find a replacement that comes anywhere near the functionality of workpace.

    We do have plans on supporting a wider range of applications. Unfortunately, we currently do not have time frames for this. Any update regarding this will be posted in this forum.

    New Features and Enhancements

    Help files update

    Help text files within the application have been updated to reflect the changes made to the website URLS and terminologies around the product. This ensures that users will be redirected to the correct web pages. (WPC-478)

    Allow for hiding the wizard settings in the app

    Users can normally select settings presets from the settings drop down. There is now an option to hide this from the user to remove confusion and conflict between policy settings and presets users can choose locally. The setting that allows for this is <s:HideSetupWizard>true</s:HideSetupWizard>, which already exists in default.ini and in the XML settings policies. When this setting is set as true, the settings drop down will be hidden as well as the Run Setup Wizard button. (WPC-486)

    Bug Fixes

    Application crashing on a page with Chinese language

    There was an issue where the application crashes when accessing the About Page when the language is set to Chinese. This has now been addressed. The application should not crash despite of the language setting. (WPC-361)

    Exercise text overlaps

    It has been reported by some users that there are some exercises where the text overlaps. This makes the exercise instructions difficult to read. This issue has been fixed in this release. (WPC-516)

    Dashboard window migrates upwards when reopened

    The main dashboard window in Wellnomics WorkPace used to migrate up the screen when closed and reopened consecutively. This eventually leads to a situation where the main title bar will appear off the top edge of the screen, making it difficult for the users to close or move the screen as they please. This issue has now been resolved. (WPC-480)

    Windows 7 compatibility

    WPC 5.4.0.50 onwards do not work with Windows 7 due to a software incompatibility. This has now been fixed. The application should work as expected regardless of what Windows version (7, 8 or 10). (WPC-411)

    High Daily Usage window not appearing on screen

    The High Daily Usage window was reported to be failing to appear on the screen. The sound was reported and the screen was subsequently locked after minimising an RDP session. This has now been addressed as part of this release. The notification around high daily usage should appear as expected.  (WPC-481)

    Application crashing due to triggering and quitting Wellnomics Breaks

    Occasionally, the application crashes due to the user quickly triggering Wellnomics Breaks. Application has been improved to ensure it doesn’t crash under any circumstances. (WPC-335)

    Daily Limit and Weekly Limit Usage enforcement levels update 

    It has been reported by some users that the insist notification for daily limit and weekly limit appears multiple times even after they’ve paused from using their computer. In this release, the insist notification should only appear when the set number of alerts have been reached. This is the same behaviour that is currently applied to Wellnomics Breaks and Micro-breaks. The change has been made for both Daily Limits and Weekly Limits for coherence across the application. (WPC-482)

    Thank you for the interest in our product. Unfortunately, we currently do not support IntelliJ for application time tracking.

    We hope we can include this in the future but for now, as for development work, we can support the following:

    • Visual Studio Code
    • Visual Studio

    The Wellnomics recommendations are based upon how much time you use your mouse (or keyboard) and how much activity you do with it, including how often you take breaks.  There are a great many different designs of mouse and keyboard available to suit different users and which users may find more comfortable to use based upon their individual preferences.  However, there is not enough published research suggesting that an ergonomic mouse or keyboard by themselves can significantly offset the health risks due to long periods of constrained posture and muscle tension involved in using any keyboard or mouse and the sedentary behavior associated. It may be that some individual designs can help some users to reduce discomfort, but with the hundreds of different designs available and the variability of individual preference (some users prefer trackballs to a mouse for example) it is not possible for the Wellnomics solution to maintain a list of approved ergonomic products that could be said to be proven to positively reduce risks when used.  

    Overall the research supports that its more how you use your devices, rather than which device you use that is of the greater importance.  Ultimately, by necessity the Wellnomics software needs to take a more general approach looking at common factors which are relevant to all users and there will always be some additional factors that exist for users that may negatively or positively affect their potential risks, but are not covered by the analysis of the solution.

    New Features and Enhancements

    Wellnomics WorkPace has been notarized with Apple

    The previous version of the application has raised concerns regarding security due to it being tagged as harmful by Mac OS.  This is no longer the case since the app has been notarized by Apple. Notarization provides assurance that Apple’s servers have checked the code, ensuring it has no harmful or malicious code. (WP-1287)

    Installer now provides user with next steps

    Wellnomics WorkPace requires permissions in order for its features to function. It wasn’t clear to the user why that is the case. Now, information is provided to the user at the end of the installation screen. The following text is now shown for clarity.

    “Wellnomics WorkPace can now be launched from your Applications folder.  If you're prompted to turn on Accessibility, you will see a tutorial that explains how to enable this.  Note that Accessibility permissions are required to allow Wellnomics WorkPace to measure your computer activity in the background while you use other apps”. (WP-1333)

    Wellnomics WorkPace is now a menulet application

    Because WorkPace should remain open all the time while the user is working on other apps, there is a risk that when WorkPace is the foreground app and the user doesn't realise this, the user might click cmd+Q to quit the application he thinks he's in, with the result being that he accidentally quits WorkPace.

    The app has now been converted into a menulet application. A menulet app will not have an icon in the Dock, nor will it have a menu when any of its menus are in the foreground. The user can operate most of the screen freely. (WP-1339)

    Bug Fixes

    Set-Up Wizard Color Issue for Dark Mode

    The color scheme that was used for dark mode proved to be difficult to read. There used to be white text on light grey background and blue text on black ground which looked odd. This has now been fixed by using grayscale colors that are readable both against light and dark backgrounds. (WP-1314)

    Resume from Standby Issue

    In the previous version 5.5.0, the Resume from standby option on Menu bar was sometimes not enabled and the user couldn't not easily resume from standby.  This issue has now been fixed. (WP-1330)

  13. Installation               

    To install Wellnomics WorkPace in MacOSX:

    1.    Please download WorkPace for Mac from our website at www.wellnomics.com.

    2.    Double-click on the WorkPace MacOSX DMG package file.

    3.    Follow the instructions to install WorkPace. WorkPace will be installed, and a shortcut added to run it automatically at startup.

    4.    Close the Window containing the shortcut to your Applications, and the Workpace.app installer.

    5.    Use the Finder to open your Applications, and double-click on Workpace.app to launch WorkPace for the first time.

    6.    The WorkPace icon in the system bar at the top of the screen.

    7.    To open the WorkPace console either double click on the WorkPace icon in the system bar at the top of the screen, or right-click on the WorkPace icon and select the "Open WorkPace Console" option.

    8.    Select Help > Registration Details to see information about the current registration key, and to enter a new one when required.

    Minimum System Requirements

    ·         Apple Mac with Intel i3/i5/i7 processor

    ·         MacOSX High Sierra

    ·         4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM

    ·         180 megabytes (MB) of available hard disk space

    ·         1024 x 768 or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

  14. Data on when and how often the user adjusts their sit-stand desk, the height of the desk, and how long they spend standing or sitting at the desk during the day. No personal information is stored – only a one-way hash based upon the user’s domain & username.

  15. Whenever a higher level break is due soon any lower-level breaks that are coming up are suspended. This is designed to avoid too much disruption of your work by giving you a micro-pause immediately followed by break, or a break immediately followed by your daily limit warning. When you ignore a daily limit warning the daily limit is then extended by an amount relative to the size of your daily limit — normally about 30 minutes to 1 hr. The problem is that if a break is due but your daily limit is about to be displayed again shortly then WorkPace will decide to reset the break counter and wait to instead give you a daily limit message. However, if you then ignore the daily limit then WorkPace’s assumption that you are about to take a huge long stretching at work break i.e. are finishing work is now incorrect. In later versions we will be looking at improving some of these aspects of the logic to ensure that even if you ignore daily limit warnings you will still get a breaks. In the meantime you can still take a stretch break (even if it has been reset) simply by pressing the break button on the status window.

    All Wellnomics office ergonomics software apps are developed in accordance with industry accepted human factors and office ergonomics guidelines around workplace ergonomic assessment, home office ergonomics, ergonomic setup, stretching at work, workplace stretches, office stretching exercises.

  16. WorkPace take a break app tries to detect natural pauses and breaks in your work and thus avoid warning you unnecessarily. This is intended to help reduce the level of disruption of your work by WorkPace which many people can find irritating. For a micropause to be effective you must relax your muscles to allow restoration of blood flow and reduction of fatigue build up. This normally means letting go of the mouse or taking your hands away from the computer keyboard and dropping them at your sides, or in your lap to relax. Hopefully, when WorkPace prompts you to take a micro-pause this is what you to. However, many people can stop actively typing or moving the mouse for a while whilst thinking or reading something on screen. In this case WorkPace may assume that you have taken a micropause when it fact you have not actually relaxed your arm and hand muscles properly. Unfortunately, WorkPace cannot see whether you are actually taking a proper micropause.

    In order to help compensate for this a natural micropause (in the default settings) must be 1.5x longer (150%) than your chosen micropause duration before it is counted as a real micropause. For example, if your micropause duration is 10 secs then the micropause counter will only reset after 15 secs of no keyboard or mouse activity.

    If you find that the micropause counter is still resetting too often and you are not getting enough micropauses you can do two things:

    Increase the micro-pause duration: This means that micropauses will be longer, and thus the reset period will also be longer. To adjust choose Edit/Break Timing on the WorkPace main menu and increase the micropause duration.

    Change the micropause reset percentage: There is a special file called sysparam.ini in the WorkPace/system directory on your computer. Load this file into a text editor and under the [Micropause] section change the parameter ResetPct=150 to a higher value. For example, you could change it to ResetPct=400 meaning that natural micropauses would only be counted if they were 4x (400%) longer than the micropause duration. The higher that this value is set the less likely the micropause counter is to reset.
